Happy Thanksgiving!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the Lakeview Families a Happy Thanksgiving! Hopefully you will eat good food and find time for rest and relaxation.

The Lakeview students have been busy these past few weeks. The Student Council and Make A Difference Club have organized a Stand Up For Kids Drive. Stand Up for Kids is a nationally acclaimed volunteer organization dedicated to helping homeless, runaway and at-risk youth in over 42 cities nationwide. They not only feed and clothe children, but also attempt to encourage and motivate them by providing straightforward mentoring, emergency resources and help find them the tools they need to get off the street. The Lakeview students have been collecting donations and will continue to do so until November 24th. Donations include: single serve food items that are healthy and don't require cooking, fruit juice, socks, winter hats, winter gloves & sweatshirts.

Congratulations to the District 66 Music Boosters on another successful Fannie May Sale! This year the students sold over $28,000.00 worth of Fannie May products. The Music Boosters made about $4,000.00 and individual student accounts also acquired $4,000.00 in profits. Thank you to everyone who supported this event! Top Fannie May Sellers: Marjorie B, Brooke N, Sam T, Quinn M, Drew D, Jillian K, Michael R, Sarah R, and Caitlyn B. Way to go Spartans!!!

End of the Trimester is Quickly Approaching!

It is hard to believe, but Friday, November 20, 2009, marks the end of the first trimester! It seems like just yesterday, students were learning locker combinations and meeting their new teachers. Now, the leaves have change and we are preparing for Thanksgiving feasts. When we return from the Thanksgiving Break students will be moving onto their second trimester Encore classes. If a student doesn’t still have their schedule they can check on Parent Connect to see what class in the Encore Block they go to starting on Monday, November 30. Report cards will be coming home with students on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.

Lakeview Strategic Planning Meeting

Don't forget! The Lakeview Strategic Planning Meeting is Monday, November 9th at 7 pm in the IMC. This is a great opportunity to give your input into the strengths and weaknesses of District 66. Parent input is valuable and appreciated. Please consider taking an hour or so out of your evening for this important event.
